Computer Optimizing Tips for Windows 9x
Faster CD-rom Faster CD-rom:
To make your CD-rom faster go to start and select run. Type regedit and press enter. Then go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSysem\CDFS] Hot Restart (Windows 98 users only):
Make a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking with your mouse and select new/shortcut. In command-line type "C:\Windows\Rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindowsexec". Call the shortcut Windows Hot Restart. Make your internet connection more stabile:
Make your Windows more stabile:
If your windows is not running so stabile go to the controlpanel and click on the system-icon. Then go to performance and click advanced graphic properties. There you can adjust the hardwareaccel. in Windows. Set it to no hardwareaccel. and restart Windows. Then you can improve it with one step pr. restart to se when your system gets unstabile Problems with scratching sounds when playing for instance mp3: Since Mp3 music becomes more and more widely distributed and our games finally begins to contain neat sounds, becomes the idea connecting the soundcard to the stereo more and more interesting: if U want to obtain the maximum performance, it would be a good idea to deactivate the little intern amplifier on the soundcard. It's specially older soundcards who has bad emplifiers and this can often be heard when U connects the Stereo. If the intern amplifer can be deactivated, is it often done moving a jumper - this is described in the soundcards manual. Or else all U can do is not 2 put 2 much gass on the volume in Windows - and turn the amplifier a little more up.
Throw the CD in the freezer: If U own a older cd-drive and U experince problems reading some cd's, is there actual a little extreme tip. U take the cd there of some reason can not be redden, and throw it in the freezer in 10 to 15 minutes. Afterwards U dry it softly and put it in the cd-rom drive - with a little luck it sould start to spin and we got a little closer to "peace in the world"
Already removed programs in add/Remove Programs: Pll constantly asks how to remove programs in "Add/Remove Programs" there already has been removed from the Harddrive. So here's the trick. Start the registry editor ( go to start and rype regedit ) now find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\ " Here U'll find all the programs that exists in "Add/Remove Programs" - now just delete the ones who sould not be there, and after a restart the problem sould have been solved
